Research residual service life of biodiesel plant in Indonesia

In July 2016, a leak in a storage tank caused a hydrochloric acid (HCl) spil at the newly built palm oil refinery and biodiesel plant in Indonesia.
Several structural concrete and steel parts were attacked by the HCl as well as equipment such as barrels, pipes and tanks.
SGS has asked Bjond as an experienced expert to participate in a team of inspectors and experts. Together with this team an inspection plan has been developed and implemented. Based on this, with Bjond's experience and knowledge, corrective actions were advised for increasing the remaining service life. This involved restoring coatings on steel and galvanized steel and restoring the brand of carbon steel.
