Research coating longest bridge of The Netherlands, De Zeelandbrug

Research (rest) lifespan coating system on the pillars of the Zeeland bridge.

Bjond investigates, on behalf of the province of Zeeland, the condition and residual life of the coating system on the pillars of the Zeeland bridge. This coating has been functioning for over 25 years as a protective layer for the concrete against penetration of chlorides, oxygen and carbon dioxide. For this purpose, Bjond investigates the technical and physical properties of the coating material as present on the bridge. This research should provide insight into what performance can be expected of the current coating system. In addition, research provides a basis for taking the most appropriate maintenance measures with the aim of extending the lifespan of this monument.
